Welcome to Brussels - Bruxelles - BrusselTaxi - Cab Services | Rent a Car | Helicopter service | Private Jet ChartersBrussels (French: Bruxelles; Dutch: Brussel, officially the Brussels Region or Brussels-Capital Region (French: Région de Bruxelles-Capitale, is the de facto capital of Belgium and of the European Union (EU). It is also the largest urban area in Belgium, comprising 19 municipalities, including the municipality of the City of Brussels, which is the de jure capital of Belgium, in addition to the seat of the French Community of Belgium and of the Flemish Community. Brussels has grown from a 10th-century fortress town founded by a descendant of Charlemagne into a metropolis of more than one million inhabitants. The metropolitan area has a population of over 1.8 million, making it the largest in Belgium.
Serving as the centre of administration for Europe, Brussels' economy is largely service-oriented. It is dominated by regional and world headquarters of multinationals, by European institutions, by various administrations, and by related services, though it does have a number of notable craft industries, such as the Cantillon Brewery, a lambic brewery founded in 1900. Brussels is fast getting rid of its dull and grey image and gaining itself a reputation as one of Europe's must-do cool short break destinations, with her human size, trendy bars and restaurants , fabulous food , great nightlife , fantastic shopping , numerous museums and other attractions such as the many interesting exhibitions and festivals of all kinds that are organised there every year. Brussels is also becoming well known as a mecca of style, attracting more and more of the big names in national and international fashion to its growing shopping districts. Browse through the links on the right hand side to discover more of what Brussels has to offer. And for special tips on Gay Brussels, go the relevant guide section. Brussels has much more to offer than you possibly expectBrussels by night… Brussels really is a city of the night, and like all big cities, there is always something to do in the evening and even later, in one restaurant, bar, discotheque, etc. or another. Our aim here is not, of course, to provide a full and up-to-date list of evenings out in the capital, or to provide the addresses of all the places to go in Brussels ... this would clearly be impossible.
The Brussels-Capital Region is home to some 80 museums. They cover areas such as art, technology, industry, science, folklore, literature, history and many other subjects, each presenting a different face of Brussels. They are astounding in the wealth of their collections and the new perspective they offer of cultures from all over the world.
